Donghwan Song is an industrial designer based in Seoul (KR). He completed his undergraduate degree in product design at Hongik University in 2020. He mainly focuses on enhancing the user experience through his broad product spectrum, using his expertise in formative, material, and interactive solutions to design products that deliver innovative user experiences with convenience. While at Korean design studios — namely, BKID, DESIGN METHODS, and FOUNTAIN STUDIO — he successfully collaborated with a diverse range of clients, from global corporates like Samsung Electronics to emerging start-ups. During this period, he participated in R&D (Research and development) and mass production projects in various product fields, including home appliances, wearable devices, and portable devices.
Furthermore, he does not simply focus on consumer electronics but also challenges practical and artistic furniture design. In the workshop, he expanded his design spectrum through the experience of fabricating physical prototypes using materials such as metal, wood, plastic, and fabric, gaining a deep understanding of CMF and structures. He enriches his design approach with a broad and global perspective based on his studies in Switzerland and his international design experience, including exhibitions at Milan Design Week and Dutch Design Week.
Recently, Donghwan achieved his Master's degree in Product Design from ECAL (CH) and was honored with the graduation award titled 'Mention Bien'. He consistently aims to create designs that foster a positive user experience and provide convenience to the users by leveraging his distinct design approach and solutions.
